The full line-up for Friday’s inaugural staging of the Pride of the Midlands competition at Beaumont Park is now complete with the inclusion of Lee Complin, Josh Auty, Iliya Bondarenko and Jari Mäkinen.
Last week’s solid performance from Jari earned the former Under-21 Champion of Finland another opportunity to ride at Leicester and he is on the look-out for a team place in the Premier League next season and will be out to impress.
The inclusion of Josh Auty makes him the third Tiger in the line-up from up the road at Owlerton. The West Yorkshire man has played a significant part in helping Sheffield to a top three placing in the Premier League table and is currently in his fourth term in a ‘double up’ arrangement with Coventry.
One of only two survivors from Leicester’s team that started the season, Iliya knows what it feels like to stand on a rostrum after finishing third in the Welsh Open at Newport.
Lee has a special place in the hearts of Lions fans that dates back to heat 15 in the challenge match at Sheffield in 2009 when he shared in a 5-1 with Sergey Darkin to level the scores at Owlerton which sent the visiting fans home with a smile on their faces. On his first visit to Beaumont Park in May, the Berwick captain chalked up thirteen points.
With the Elite League represented by four riders and many others in ‘double up’ arrangements this meeting has the making of an exciting contest. Who is going to be the first name on the trophy?
Why not come along to support the boys and with twenty heats on offer and the possibility of a run-off if two or more riders tie for first place the evening provides good value.
Normal admission prices apply and season tickets honoured.
